Henan Institute of Technology（HAIT），located in Xinxiang which is a famous city in northern Henan，is a provincial public undergraduate college. Founded in 1975, HAIT has been awarded the “National Advanced Institution of Employment”, the “National Employment Model of Higher Education Institutions”, the “National Experimental Institution for 1+X Qualification Certificates” , the “Civilized Campus Model in Henan Province”, and the “Civilized College in Henan Province” .

HAIT, born in the integration of working and learning and developed in school-enterprise cooperation, possesses profound historical accumulation and abundant educational resources. In the course of running a college for nearly half a century, the motto of “Virtuous, Skilled, Pragmatic and Innovative”, the school spirit of “United, Creative, Competitive and Happy” , the teaching ethics of “Cultivating virtues, Loving students, Working Diligently and Educating moral”, and the academic atmosphere of “Working hard, Thinking critically, and Combining knowledge with action” have been gradually formed, which all together precipitate the spirit of HAIT, that is “pioneering, enterprising and self-improving”. At present, HAIT has more than 20,000 full-time students and more than 1,100 faculty members. It covers an area of 1,220 acres and the building area is more than 500,000 square meters. The library occupies more than 1.71 million paper books and more than 260,000 e-books. The total value of teaching and research equipment is more than 240 million yuan.

HAIT insists on optimizing the structure of disciplines and majors. At present, there are 15 schools (departments), 32 undergraduate majors, and 25 provincial-level key disciplines, provincial-level first-class undergraduate major construction sites, and provincial-level special (exemplary, famous) majors, forming its Characteristic disciplines such as intelligent manufacturing, new energy materials and cable engineering. HAIT has initially established a discipline and professional system with engineering as the mainstay and the coordinated development of five disciplines including engineering, management, economics, literature and art.

HAIT vigorously implements the talent construction project and promotes the gathering of high-end talents. There are more than 970 full-time teachers, with more than 300 ones enjoy senior professional titles. Meanwhile, HAIT invites more than 20 academicians, Changjiang scholars, and part-time professors, etc. More than 110 staff enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, or are awarded as the “Nationally Outstanding Teachers”, national-level candidates for the National Talent Project, provincial outstanding experts, and provincial academic and technical leaders. 2 teaching groups are rewarded as provincial excellent teaching teams.

HAIT is the National University Practice Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base, and the Henan Vocational Education Double-qualified Teacher Training Base. It has 14 national or provincial demonstrative training bases, vocational skills appraisal institutes, and virtual simulation experiment teaching projects. It has won 19 national or provincial teaching achievement awards, 35 industry-university cooperative education projects of the Ministry of Education, 12 Provincial first-class online and offline courses as well. In the past 5 years, students have won more than 110 provincial or ministerial awards in various discipline competitions such as the China “Internet +” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Competition, the National College Student Electronic Design Competition, and the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition. The comprehensive quality of graduates is well received by employers, and the employment rate has always remained above 95%.

HAIT attaches great importance to technological innovation and has achieved remarkable results in serving the society. There are 8 provincial engineering (technical) centers. In recent years, its staff have presided more than 200 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, won 19 national and provincial teaching achievement awards, and published academic papers in SCI, EI, CSSCI and other journals as the first author. More than 250 articles, 80 academic works and textbooks have been published. It has been rated as one of the “ten fast” universities in Henan Province’s special action for the improvement of comprehensive intellectual property capabilities with over 110 patents having been approved, and more than 420 technical consulting services having been provided for enterprises.

HAIT sticks to the priority of open education, and international cooperation has taken firm steps. Actively responding to the joint construction of the “Belt and Road” education initiative, it carries out substantive cooperation with well-known universities or institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea and other countries (or regions) to introduce high-quality educational resources and running concepts, and promote the college-running standards.
